Hot air ovens are electrical devices, use dry heat to dry any materials. Generally, they can be operated from 50 to 300 °C. A thermostat or digital temperature controls the temperature. Their double walled insulation keeps the heat in and conserves energy, the inner layer being a poor conductor and outer layer being metallic. These are fitted with the adjustable wire mesh trays as well as indicators and controls for temperature and holding time.

Speedy or Rapid Moisture Meters are used to measure the percentage of water in a given soil or powdery material. In this method calcium carbide regent react with the water content of the sample and produces acetylene and calcium hydroxide. The gas generate pressure on the closed chamber and display this pressure in form of moisture over calibrate pressure gauge.

Infrared Temperature Meter is a non contact technique to measure temperature of any surface. This is sometimes very useful where our hand can’t reach, such as brick kiln or inside furnace. Easy to use, just press the switch and get the temperature in desired engineering form.
